What is "SMI"?

SMI stands for "Summer Manufacturing Institute," which is a collection of STEM-to-career summer camps for 5th and 6th-grade students. At Camp, students learn about the connections between STEM concepts and in-demand manufacturing careers. Campers will complete hands-on projects, meet industry experts, tour local manufacturing facilities, meet company CEOs, and much more! The goal of the camp is to expose young people to in-demand manufacturing careers.

Hours of Operation: SMI camp operated from Monday-Thursday from 9 am - 3 pm and Friday 9 am - 12 pm. On Friday, we have a special luncheon at AWT from 11 am -12 pm where parents, donors, and staff can see what the campers have learned.

Lake & Geauga Co. Summer Manufacturing Institute is sponsored by the Alliance for Working Together (AWT) Foundation in collaboration with OhioMeansJobs Geauga Co., Auburn Career Center, the Office of United States Senator Sherrod Brown, and various industry partners.
